Who would have thought we would ever be in a situation where we are unable to get a facial, have your Botox or fillers, our SNS/shellac cannot be maintained and we are unable to visit our place of exercise?
We are homebound. So let’s not let ourselves go, instead, we should adapt and make sure we use all the knowledge we have gained from the professionals to carry on and maintain our own personal health.
Adapting your professional routines at home
Last weekend I admired a woman exercising in the park. Amazingly it was as if she had adjusted her whole gym routine with the use of the park bench to help assist her in her weight-bearing exercises. It was mesmerising and inspirational.
Similarly, as a skin therapist, I have always encouraged my clients to have a good homecare skin routine outside of the salon, demonstrating how they should cleanse, exfoliate etc to ensure skin health is maintained in between treatments. Turning your bathroom into a home spa at least once a week. So there is no need to panic that the salon is closed. Look at this unusual situation as a self-care experience.
Tips to help maintain salon-style treatments yourself
Our tips below offer temporary alternatives to help you in the absence of regular salon visits:
Massage: look at the range of Waterlily Body serums and use your fingers to press over those tense areas or better still get your partner to assist!
Nails: after removing the gels with acetone, use this time to renourish your nails and hands. Use a face/body oil or moisturiser on cuticles nightly. Apply hand cream at least twice a day (eg Aspect Hand & Body Cream, Medik8 Hand & Nail Cream). Use a balm or nourishing face mask on your hands once or twice a week with cotton gloves to enhance the hand treatment e.g Lime Caviar Body Balm
Hair: for those who are giving the hairdresser a miss for a while, you need your hair to behave so use one of Bhave Travel Kits as they are awesome.
So there you have it, so many alternatives. And during this period of self-distancing and self-isolation we look to continue the good work the professionals have done rather than undoing it. When the time comes for salons to reopen, you can continue moving forward with your required skin treatments rather than taking a few steps back.
